Typical Application
The JJR5000 Series Intelligent 3-Phase Soft Starter can be widely applied in electric power, metallurgy, petroleum, petrochemical, mining, chemical, construction, building materials, municipal projects, defense industry, light industry, textile, printing and dyeing, paper, and pharmaceutical industries, among others.
1. Pump
Utilizes the soft stop function to reduce the impact of water hammer, thereby lowering system maintenance costs.
2. Ball mill
Uses voltage ramp startup to reduce gear torque and friction, saving both cost and time.
3. Fan
Reduce belt friction and mechanical conflict to save maintenance cost.
4. Compressor
Employs the current limiting function to achieve smooth startup, reducing motor heating and extending service life.
5. Conveyor
Uses the soft start function to ensure a smooth and gradual startup process, preventing product displacement and liquid overflow.
Technical Characteristics

Notice for Model Selection
- The soft starter must provide a torque greater than the load's resistance torque to ensure successful startup of equipment such as pumps and centrifugal pumps.
- Single-start constant load:Permitted startup time is 40 seconds under 3 times limited current, or 25 seconds under 4 times limited current.

Recycle start:When the motor starts 10 times per hour, the permitted startup time is 25 seconds under 3 times limited current, permitted startup time is 15 seconds under 4 times limited current.The corresponding thermal protection level is Class 10.
- For heavy-load motors such as ball mill fan, startup is permitted 5 times per hour. If the limited current value is as above, the protection level is Class 20.If the startup frequency increases, a higher power-rated product should be adopted.
Motor and system protection functions
The JJR5000 Series Low Voltage soft start motor starter 3 phase provides multiple protection functions for both the motor and the soft starter. The main protection functions are as follows:
Three-phase input phase loss protection: The soft starter will not start unless the main loop has power supplied from all three phases.
Overheat protection: The system monitors temperature continuously. Frequent starts may cause the SCR temperature to rise excessively (above 80°C), triggering protection.
Overlong startup time protection: Excessively long startup time may damage the motor and soft starter. The default limit is 30 seconds, but the user can set this value between 10 and 300 seconds according to the actual load.
High current protection (timing limit type): If the current exceeds 5–8 times the rated value (adjustable), the soft starter will cut off output within 20–200 ms (also adjustable).
Inverse overload protection: There are 4 grade curves stall protection.
Light load alarm; trip protection, frequency mistake alarm.
Start prohibition function (optional): It will only permit restart when temperature of the motor reaches an expected value.
WORKING
The main circuit of the JJR5000 Soft Starter adopts six SCRs (silicon-controlled rectifiers) connected in anti-parallel pairs within the stator circuit of the AC motor.Based on the operation of the SCR electronic switches, the soft starter makes use of microprocessor to adjust trigger angle to change SCR's conducting angle, so as to change motor input voltage value to realize the control of motor soft start. When completing the start, the output of soft starter will reach rated voltage. Then contactor KM which controls three-phase bypass will switch on to make motor run into the grid.
